Stefan Kawohl, born in 1985 in Eckental near Nuremberg, began his musical education as a hornist at the age of 16 as a young student at the University of Music Nuremberg under the guidance of Prof. Angerer.

After completing his schooling, he continued his artistic studies in 2005 at the University of Music Saarbrücken under the tutelage of Prof. Erich Penzel and Prof. Xiao Ming Han. Following his preliminary diploma, he transferred to the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar, where he graduated with top honors under the instruction of Prof. Jörg Brückner.

In parallel with his classical horn studies, Stefan has been receiving private lessons from Prof. Malte Burba since 2006 and attending didactic courses in Mainz and Dresden.

He gained orchestral experience under conductors such as Sir Roger Norrington, Christian Thielemann, Zubin Mehta, Marc Piollet, and others. Tours with ensembles like the Weimar Staatskapelle and the Young German Philharmonic took him to countries including Australia, South Korea, Chile, Russia, and various European nations.

Since 2014, Stefan Kawohl has been a permanent member of the Würzburg Philharmonic, the orchestra of the Mainfranken Theater. In addition to his fixed position, he is a sought-after substitute at institutions like the State Theater Darmstadt, Philharmonie Jena, Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern, Landestheater Coburg, Oper in Regensburg, Nürnberger Symphoniker, and more.

Since 2021, Stefan holds a teaching position at the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar, where he provides pedagogical instruction and introduces the renowned horn class of Prof. Jörg Brückner to the Burba technique.
