Marvin Frey received his first trumpet lessons at the Landesmusikgymnasium Rheinland-Pfalz with Markus Schwind. 


Afterwards he studied in the course of studies "Bachelor of Music" with main subject jazz trumpet at the Conservatorium Maastricht in the class of Rob Bruynen (WDR Big Band) and Carlo Nardozza (Brussels Jazz Orchestra) and graduated in 2017 with the distinction "cum laude". 


He then studied the Master of Music degree program at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen with Ryan Carniaux and Ansgar Striepens. 


Since the year 2017 he received private lessons with Prof. Malte Burba.

Besides his own projects like the quintet "Marvin Frey Group" and the band "Moop Mama", he plays in several jazz formations of different jazz styles, like the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Brussels Jazz Orchestra, WDR Big Band and many more, as well as in theater and musical productions.

Marvin Frey is a lecturer for jazz trumpet at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg as well as at the Wiesbadener Music Academy.
