Martin Flörl was born in 1976 in Schwaz in Tyrol, Austria. He received his first trumpet lessons at the age of 10.

 

After attending the Music High School in Innsbruck, he studied trumpet at the "Mozarteum" University in Salzburg under Hans Gansch, and music education at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz under Malte Burba. In 2001, he graduated with a "Diplom-Musiklehrer" degree.

 

He participated in masterclasses with renowned musicians including Gabriele Cassone, Reinhold Friedrich, Uwe Köller, Klaus Schuhwerk, Otto Sauter, Allen Vizzutti, James Thompson, and for Baroque trumpet with Friedemann Immer and Andreas Lackner.

 

Since 1996, he has been teaching at the Tyrolean Music School. His students frequently achieve recognition as prize winners at the Austrian youth music competition "Prima la Musica."

 

Starting in 2018, he became a licensed Burba®Brass teacher and a member of the Burba®Brass Network.

 

He regularly performs as a soloist and chamber musician, with a focus on both baroque music (on historical instruments) and contemporary pieces. He also collaborates with various ensembles and orchestras, including but not limited to TENM, Eliseo, Windkraft, Whyrauch, Cielawind, La Banda, L'arpa festante, Barucco, Wiener Akademie, AKAMUS, and the Klangforum Wien.
